playing live, ableton live best option?

Hey guys so usually I play live with a drummer but I have alot of electronic drum sounds and wanted to just play those through a mixer and am unsure how to approach it, i talked to the dude at gc and he told me that best thing to do is get a macbook and ableton to load the clips of the song. essentially I am going to be vocals and guitar and everything else needs to be there when i play live like the synths, bass, drums. So is this the best way to approach a live set up, a laptop and ableton?
