Default ProControl- Control Room Section NO longer works after Upgrades

PT HD 8, no cs updates installed.
Mac OS installed: OSX 10.5.5

Has anyone any idea, or experienced this problem.

I have reason to believe it may have something to do with the expansion card (PCI Expansion Card Driver), however we cannot find an update online, is there a driver update?

We called Tech support, but did not get a resolution.

Our Pro Control (not the "24" version) has the Control room controls built into the console. Came with the "edit pack"

Thank you

First of all, all Pro controls came stock with 8 faders and the Master Section also referred to as the " Main Unit ", after that you can expand it how ever you want, with a edit pack, and Fader Packs
so when you say it's (not the "24" version) it means nothing
Do you mean it does not have 24 faders ?
Also the amount of fader packs would have nothing to do with this either, as ALL expansion units are
100% separate and independent of each other.
Second, the control section has absolutely nothing to do with pro tools
it is essentially not controlled by any external hardware or software
( except the foot-switch control can Dim the Monitors )

Pro tools 8 when first launched and connected to the Main Unit should have initiated a firmware update, So if the Main Unit is not seen Via Ethernet than it will look dead ( but the control room functions will still work ) , as well as it wont initiate the firmware updates required to run

Thats is because there is none, All drivers are installed with the pro tools software and Cs updates ( if required at all )
If it was a card issue than Pro Tools itself would have problems negating the Pro Control anyways and not be the problem with the Main Unit
I'll bet if you do a clean PT uninstall and then a reinstall ( WITH THE CS ) it may just come back
If not than it's likely a connection issue or a power supply

I think he's referring to control 24, he has a Pro Control main unit with edit pack... not a Control 24.

Did you recently upgrade or change anything? If not, it sounds like a power supply issue to me. Otherwise I'd try re-installing PT as the dude said.

Talking Re: ProControl- Control Room Section NO longer works after Upgrades

Thank you Dude, the owner may very well have installed PT8 with the ProControl off.

Digi told him that there was no stand alone installer for the firmware upgrade for that console?

Does any one know if it is available separately?

Thanks again

The firmware is only installed via software when pro tools SW is installed there in NO option at all to Disregard this component OR to install it independently

The firmware is either upgraded or downgraded when the actual pro tools application is launched and prior to the progress bar completing
This is only available the very first time it sees the Controller
the firmwares version is installed depending on the PT software version,
So if you install PT8 it will upgrade at that time ( it takes approx 10 Min )
then if you run PT 7.4 it downgrade back to firmware that is appropriate to the version of PT software

The controller profile (which includes the firmware) is installed when you install Pro Tools.

What are the symptoms you're experiencing, exactly?

You'll want to make sure both the Main and Edit packs are declared in the Setups>Peripherals>Ethernet controllers, as that's what will trigger detection and update of the correct firmware.

When you upgrade/install ProTools You may have to check the Hardware Setup in ProTools to make sure that your output goes where they are supposed to go. You may be sending audio to output that are not plugged to the ProControl.

The Control Room section is a simple analog audio router/volume, no software control. If nothing goes in, nothing goes out. Check your audio cables and audi connections.

Thank you again, "The Dude"

Thank you JC, we double checked the patching.

JC and DigiTech: Originally with pt 7.4, patching was as follows: "pro control out" to speaker mains and amp. Now, "192" interface directly to mains.

DigiTech: setup>peripherals>ethernet controllers> "enable" is checked and "ethernet port" reads "en0"

#1 = Left
#2 = EDIT PACK
#3 = Right

and pro control functions except control room routings and outputs.

Symptom is that no audio comes from "pro control out" including monitor section and we have no control over mains volume.

Meaning, we must deselect an output before a full volume bounce, because the amps are calibrated to THX standards and cannot be changed.

We used Control room volume as a trim to keep the speakers from blowing when audio material is close to 0db fs.

Thank you again,
Best
Adrielw
