Echo Vocals
Hey all. I'm trying to echo some vocals. I dont have any "extra" plug-ins besides what came with ver. 7 - I've been messing around with the delay and modulation, but its a no go. Is there anything already in Protools that I can use to accomplish this or do I have to buy a plug-in to get that effect?

Re: Echo Vocals
If you can't get a suitable echo with the numerous delay plugins that come stock with PTLE, I don't know what to tell you. There are other delay plugins out there, but they essentially just do what any other delay plugins do (including the Digi delays).

Re: Echo Vocals
Could you explain what you're tryng to do, maybe we can help that way. I agree if you can't get your desired echo with the stock plug-ins there's nothing out there that'll give you more.

Re: Echo Vocals
Another option is to copy the track and shift the audio.

Re: Echo Vocals
I agree with the copy and shift method. You may need to do it several times, depending on how much feedback you need. Keep in mind that a real echo losses is some higher frequencies on each echo.

Re: Echo Vocals
take some time and get to know the mono long and medium delay plugins. play around with 1/4 and 1/8 notes.

Re: Echo Vocals
--is your wet/dry mix on the delay plugin defaulted at 0% ? if thats the case, you may be only hearing the origianl signal without the effect--set the wet/dry mix to 20-50%

Re: Echo Vocals
My teacher (pro-tools)(he a Very good producer working with some big names) showed
me this tip. Do a `dry` vocal track, then duplicate that track, then place 1 track left, the other right. On the duplicate track, add a slap delay, as your listening to the vocals, bring the duplicated track down a bit, so its not so obvious. gives vocals a nice full sound. THEN if you want more echo, I do this, I make another blank track, enlarging your 1st dry vocal track and your new track.. Click your option to stretch out the track a bit(view). The word/words you wish to add echo, highlight the the word on the dry track, then paste to the blank track, you can do it once, or as many as needed..You can automate each copy if you want a true decreasing vocal/echo effect!. Also audio suite you each word or track copied to add reverb ect. I also had a another major engineer tell me this is how he did it also. hope this makes sense! Good luck! Hal pilot57.com |
