midi sync from protools 6.4 to the mpc 2000

i have the digidesign 002 an mpc 2000 and triton studio. i know that there's a way to push play in protools and my mpc will begin playing through midi. i have everything hooked up correctly, but it still won't play through the mpc when i push play in protools. can you please help me. i've tried everything, all i want to do is record my beats to protools track for track. in order to do so, i need the mpc to start playing when i push play in protools, a friend of mines has his setup that way, but i just cant manage. he even came to my studio and gave it a try but no success. i know there's a pro out there who can assist me. i use pc version of 6.4. when i record my tracks ive been recording all the instruments on one track, NOT GOOD FOR EDITING, and i know this. i just want to midi so that protools and the mpc works together...

like to help but need more info on how you are setup and what you have done that you think it should work, coulld just be one little tweak or making sure you mpc is looking for mtc or midiclock. those details are needed though to help more

ive set my mpc to midi time code on frame rate 30d, MMC "on" both receive and send - also i made sure that the sync in was on port 1. now in protools 6.4(pc version) windows>session set up> checked "using peripheral" and "MTC to port" (when i select which port i put 1 which is what midi is running through from the 002). Time code rate 30, freewheel NONE. Now that i,ve done all of this the midi out port 1 light on the 002 begins to jump as if it is being read. But still the mpc does not start when i push play in protools. Just to remind you, i just need the MPC 2000 to play when i push play from protools so that i can record my beats instrument for instrument. Thanks for your help.

you've double checked,digi midi out to mpc midi in on connections. some units you have to change the start time of the session to read the time code. hit cnrl+2 (on nmber pd) i think... and change the session start time to 1:00:00. see if that does it.

tried starting session at 1:00.000 and it doen't work, i think its just 1 little thing im doing wrong but i can not get it. again, it looks like the 002 is trying to read something because of the jumping light. still... NOTHING. any other solutions please
