Solved.

I went to GC this morning and picked up a Focusrite 18i20. As most here know they have a liberal return policy, so why not? The whole equation has changed. Everything is back to where it was (and should be). The Mac Studio is back to screamingly fast. All three of my DAW's are lightning-fast and the bonus is the audio is quite a few steps cleaner and louder (actually that's an understatement) than the Tascam. Problem solved and a rather large gain in Sonic's to boot.

Thanks, everyone, and the break from the hair-pulling is most welcome!
