Default Simple OMF Question

After looking in the ProTools reference guide without getting a clear answer, experts please clarify: If I want to import an OMF file (as a means to get audio data from I assume an AVID system) I will need the software add on Digitranslator 2.0 to do so. ProTools 6.9 (the version I am running on an HD1 system) won't natively import OMF files (therefore requiring me to get a $495 software product).
In addition I run Logic 7.2 which can import OMF files (again just to get audio). Is there a good way to import an OMF file into Logic and then get the audio into ProTools 6.9 in an elegant fashion (thus avoiding having to get Digitranslator)?
Thank you for any definitive answers!!
