Air-display and protools iPad App

Anybody ever tried this? How well does it work with ProTools? Seriously looking at buying an iPad to try this out… It'd be great just to have metering on an iPad.

I use it and love it for metering with waves WLM meter.

I tried it with my iPhone and the screen was too small to be of any use whatsoever, at least control wise, and I'm good at working the small screen size in general.

ProRemote is much more useful for me, but it eats up all your machine control.

I'm using iDisplay. Haven't tried AirDisplay, but iDisplay works great here on iPad2.

Sounds awesome. I'm wondering if this means that Pro Tools 11 doesn't *really* need for WiFi to be turned off the way Avid claims.

Here is a question. What is you already have two displays?
Does it mirror the 2nd display or will it provide a third?

I've been using it for almost 2 years, awesome app. It works great, you can have it act as a 2nd or 3rd display with touchscreen, which you can move around just like any other monitor via the system preferences.

The only caveats are that it's understandably a little laggy if you run it at retina resolution (Yes, it will work as a 2048x1536 touchscreen over wifi if you have a retina ipad ), and it will indeed mirror, but the mirror function mirrors across all connected monitors (so if you have 2 real monitors + air display, all 3 monitors will mirror the same thing, you can't have it mirror just one or the other).

Hey John

Do you know how to get it to not Lagg and show chopped picture and when I tried to use touch control on one of our ipads nothing happens I have to use the computer mouse if I want to change something so "drawing" and stuff like it says on their website is a no go here. What am I doing wrong?

What model ipad are you using? What OS on the main computer?

Are there any other apps running on the ipad? Double click the home button to see. Swipe up on any apps that you don't need running.
