Default Mackie MCU + XT midi drop out in Pro Tools HUI errors controller stop responding

Recently my Mackie MCU + MCU XT began exhibiting weird behavior in Pro Tools via HUI Mode. During a mix session or when recording, my controller will suddenly make a click noise, lock out & stop communicating with Pro Tools. Any & all feedback is welcome. Please help me sort this out, if anyone knows of a fix, please tell me. MCU is using firmware v2.1.2. these symptoms occur with both my MCU & the extender. I've tried calling the Mackie support hotline but they have been (mysteriously) closed for the past two weeks. & I am not having any luck finding anything on the web when googling these symptoms as I don't know the technical name of this issue.

I have created a youtube video of my issue so you guys can see my device in action when the issue occurs.

MY youtube video can be found here

Technical Notes:
*Both Devices are wired correctly
*Both Devices are connected to my MacPro via M-Audio MidiSport 4x4 (which is pro tools compatible)
*Both Devices are configured correctly in the Audio Midi Studio Setup
*The main controller is named HUI 1 & the Extender is named HUI 2
*Both devices are enabled in Midi Beat Clock & Midi Input Enable in Setup>Midi.
*Both Devices are setup correctly in Midi Controllers in Setup>Peripherals
*Midi Machine Control is not enabled under Machine Control in Peripherals setup
*Synchronization is not enabled for MTC Reader And Generator in Peripherals setup

See attached screenshot to see a picture of my current HUI device properties in Audio Midi Studio Setup.

If I'm not mistaken, I have everything setup right. I'm using Pro Tools 8.0.5 on OSX 10.6.8 on MacPro1,1 on woodcrest 2.66GHz Xeon Quad with 8gb ram. This is a dedicated machine, no additional programs are running, not using any third party plugins, only using PT factory plugins. I can get a stable recording nor mix session. fwiw, my OS & PT is only using 7% of my processor.

#wow!!! I guess when Avid announced EOSS for PT 8x, i guess that means #no forum support as well huh? If it wasn't for me experimenting with my settings until I #finally figured it out on my own, I'd be up the creek without a paddle.... smh

<rant>Since I finally upgraded my hardware & CPU, I probably need to jump to PT10, in order to get some love around here</rant>

I am having the same problem. I'm in PT 11 with 2x Mackie extenders. All works fine and then goes bad. I thought it was my midi interface going offline (because I do get some USB connectivity issues because I have so many devices connected), but, re-starting PT gets it going again so I don't think it is the interface.

Interestingly the Mackie's LCD screens still update and faders move with automation - I just can't SEND any info with them eg new fader moves, mutes, solos dont' work.

How did you fix?
