Default New Imac crashing

I just got the new Imac 2.4ghz, 4gig ram and it came with 10.4.10. Mbox 2 is crashing my entire system. I removed the second monitor and all externals and that didn't help. As soon as I plug the Mbox in I get a black screen telling me to restart. Without the Mbox I can't launch Pro Tools. I have tried all the updates and downloads with no success?? I see others are having some problems but not crashing by simply plugging in the Mbox. Any Ideas???? Thanks

First off, is this one of the new, just released last week iMacs? (I'm assuming that as I have one from late 2006/early 2007 and they can only address 3GB of RAM). Did you install the combo update of 10.4.10? There's no guarantee that will work as this is totally new hardware, but it's worth a try.

Yes it is the new one.... It will not let me install the 10.4.10 update because I am already on 10.4.10.

right... you tried the pre binding script approach and still no go? Man I'm afraid this one's out of my league. I know digi is in the middle of testing these new platforms, but as I haven't actually seen or used one, I don't know what to tell you beyond that. Sorry...

Forgot to mention Ableton Live and Battery 3 are both working fine.... except I have to use the Imac speakers to monitor which sucks.

Have you tried plugging the Mbox in while the computer is off, and then booting up? If the Mbox is anything like ost of the other usb/firewire interfaces, you are not supposed to plug/unplug while the computer is running.

Did you download and install the driver before connecting the Mbox? Just some ideas.

J

Yep... It will not start up at all with the Mbox plugged in so I can't install anything while Mbox is connected...

Can you test the Mbox on another computer to determine if it's the Mbox that's dysfunctional or not? Or possibly get a different Mbox to test on your computer?

If not - it just may be that there's a problem with those new models and the Mbox - we won't know until they can be tested...
