Default Video sync drift

I recently upgraded my system to HD Native with an MTRX Studio as the main audio interface. I have be experiencing more than acceptable sync drift on the video and feel it is time to invest in a dedicated sync/word clock generator.
My video peripheral has the ability to lock to Video ref and of course the MTRX will lock to word clock or loop sync. My Mac Pro trashcan does not have a serial port so.....
My question is what kind of sync peripheral to purchase. Can I use Avid Sync HD in standalone mode? Would a Rosendal nanosync cover all the bases (as it generates both word clock and video ref)?
Any other solutions that I am missing?

The SYNC HD connects to the HDnative card's serial port.
Serial out to SYNC HD and loop sync to MTRX. And your clock generator TriLevel sync signal to the video card and SYNC HD's video ref in. And yes you need a clock generator. The AJA GEN10 is pretty cheap.

Thanks Frank. I didn't even notice the serial port on the back of the HD Native box!! Just so I am understanding this correctly. I will need to feed video ref to the Sync HD if I want a good picture lock? And then clock the MTRX from the Sync HD?

Serial to SYNC HD so PT can talk to it.
Video Sync Clock to video hardware and same signal to SYNC HD.
Loop Sync out from SYNC HD to MTRX.

So common video clock to video card and sync HD.
And loop sync from SYNC to MTRX.

This will ensure edge sync clocking for video and audio and via serial cable PT "know" when exactly a frame starts.

If you're getting serious drift, there could be something else at play. Lots of people use AJA and BM cards without a Sync HD without serious drift. Yes a fully genlocked system will be the tightest, but remember if you start working in Atmos using the Dolby Audio Bridge you won't be able to use it.

What card are you using for video output? An AJA T-tap provides incredibly reliable sync.

Funny that Tom. I was using a T-tap but have moved to a BM UltraStudio Express box. I purchased a new short throw laser projector in the fall of last year and I thought that might have been the source of the problem but apparently not. So I guess this is the last thing I can do to sort out my drift problems.

Hi Frank, need your opinion. If we have genlocked the system, do we still need wordclock reference? Thanks.

Hi Tom,
If I clock the MTRX using word clock and feed VID Ref to the Avid Sync HD would that not be an alt solution when using atmos?

I believe the issue is that once you select the Dolby Audio Bridge as your playback engine for Pro Tools you lose sync functions of HD Native/HDX and your hardware. The SYNC HD is longer in communication with Pro Tools therefore unable to locate frames accurately.
