Default Export/Share just a recorded track?

I would like to send just a track from a session to a friend via zip file so he can import it into his session...NOT the entire session folder.

Is there a way to do this such that it keeps all the inserts, audio files etc. that does not involve cutting away everything from my session.

“Save Session Copy” has an option for only selected tracks. That will make a new session with only selected tracks and only the clips used on those tracks that you can zip up and send. (You need to make additional choices in that dialog like “copy used files” and “only main playlist”, etc.)

Thanks, but then how does the person incorporate the saved track into an existing session once they receive it?

It might be easier to send a simple mix and let the other person just Import Audio(make sure you share the session settings like sample rate and bit depth, and the tempo). I often send a "2-mix" to someone for adding an overdub and I will send an MP3 via email(as long as they can convert on import) and I name it like "songname4fiddle120BPM"(if I was sending the song to a fiddle player). That way, they know the tempo, and PT can convert the mp3 on import(I always REQUEST the return audio files at my normal 24 bit/48K. They don't always do as I ask, so sometimes I get an mp3 back, or I get 16 bit/441, but so far, this has not been a show-stopper).

Other times, I will zip a session(stripping it to barebones) or I may have reason to send the entire thing(all depends on the other end)

This is what I wanted to avoid doing when I asked the question.

We are building a song in parallel. When I add a track I wanted to be able to export just that track with all it's meta data intact, and send it to someone to import it into their (same) session. Seems like that should be possible in this day and age.

(Yes, I do know about the Cloud Collaboration features)

And it is.
And I and Sardi explained it.
Couldn't be more of a direct process: export on one end; import on the other.
