So, 30% is probably 'best case'for Avid and, unless there are changes (or possibly clarifications of current misunderstandings), it's clear that the cost of carrying Pro Tools into the future will have to be borne by a smaller group than at present, including many of us here!
For me, barring a mea culpa from Avid, I'm freezing my system at PT10.3.9 and PT11.2.1 These, while not ideal at the moment, do what I need them to do and are making me funds to continue.

Avid totally fails to understand the true nature of its user base...

What a sad, sad situation :-(
Indeed. Their reputation certainly precedes them if anything. The writers I work with are all on Logic and don't want to hear anything remotely concerning Pro Tools. Worse yet, don't even mention the name, Avid. Somehow that word alone has crept up to be reviled as the industry's equivalent of Microsoft. So what good is Avid | EVERYWHERE if they continue to push people out the door and there's NOBODY | ANYWHERE?

My current impression is that they're more content with developing software licensing platforms than artist tools. Imagine how many updates will be released just to fix licensing bugs (though they'll probably be called, "stability releases".) Time that would be better spent on enhancing our workflow will instead be dedicated to managing our usage. So that's probably what a good portion of the funds will be addressing in the year(s) to come.

CHAPTER 1:
Just before the slaughter began it was spoken, "We are Avid. We come in peace."

CHAPTER 2:
The end.

It's almost as if they have no business training at all! I don't know what this is supposed to be! ;-)

I wish there'd been a third question on the PTE poll - "based on available information and pricing, do you intend to update pro tools on the new subscription plan". Options for "yes, pay annually / one time update only / stick with current version". That seems like most obvious question really...

I've just installed Logic Pro X to try and wean myself off Pro Tools "just in case"! I started off on C-Lab creator all the way to Logic 6, paid a fortune out to keep that up to date, paid a fortune for pro tools and all the updates to v11, waiting to see what their next move will be....

I switched to pro tools 10 years ago from Logic.

I know going back will be pain. Instinctual finger movements will become annoyances and sources of frustration for a while before they become acclimated to the new commands.

The thought process is a bit different, just as it makes sense to me in PT now it didn't in the beginning simply because it different so to me at the time seems CRAZY...

But I will also be heading back probably full implementation would be a year or so as we all have pending projects and what not..

the important part for me is that it doesn't seem like a step down, just over the the side.

And Mainly- my go to plug ins are available in AU bit I'll miss Massenberg.

Logic EQ just got a significant rewrite but Fab Filter will most likely be the new go to. Again just different not step down in quality.

The fact that avid seems to either not know these facts or does and still chooses to bank their future on major facilities who CAN"T switch DAW's, boggles the mind.

Im not 100% out but on the way...
