Default VI Insturments, off beat

Hi!

I have a problem with my software synthesizers.
I create a Instrument track and then I click in notes.
When I playback the tracks the notes are all off beat (not on the click). Sometimes the don't play at all.
I have a dual core 2.2 ghz 2 gB ram so the computer is very powerful.

Is there something I've missed in the settings to correct this?

I've changed the buffersize, DEA buffersize and the CPU usage to max but with no improvement.

Is your main counter set to Bars&Beats? If not, you won't really be seeing grid...

Does the click seem to play "off the grid"?

Is this Mac or PC?

If it's PC and you're on WinXP, make sure you have the dual core hotfix and, if it's an AMF processor, the dual-core optimizer.

Links to both can be found in the General Troubleshooting thread.

PC or MAC, it shouldn't make a different would it if you make proper
software ?
I mean, playing MIDI with one software synth doesn't use that much power from a computer.

I tried these tips you recommended but with no improvement. I hope you fix these problems in the 8 version, then I might buy it.

When I play 32 audio tracks with a couple of plugings on every track it works fine. CPU around 30-40 %.
I can't imagine that softsynths and MIDI use that much power. Is it Pro Tools it self that can't handle the softsynth's?

Yes, I recorded the click track and it's not on the beat.
It plays good a few bars then it gets off sync, one or two clicks.

I change the buffer size, RTAS processors (one or two), CPU usage and the DEA Playback Buffer with no good results. It's close but not perfect sync.

Well, that would be true if you were speaking to MICROSOFT. If you are on a PC, you need to make sure to update Microsoft Windows XP as there is a major flaw in that software (not a flaw in Pro Tools, a flaw in the OPERATING SYSTEM), that causes MIDI clock problems.

Again, this is not a flaw in Pro Tools, it's a flaw in Windows. It's a known issue, happens to almost everybody usinga multi-core processor and Windows without the hotfix, and it is why it was recommended that you make sure that you have loaded that OPERATING SYSTEM HOTFIX.

Macs that run MAC OSX don't have this problem, because they are not running... ahem... Windows, so you see, it does matter. Idiot.
