Default McDSP ML4000 - does the full version work on LE?

Hi folks,

I'm looking into getting the McDSP ML4000. If you look at the bottom of the product page on the McDSP website, they have a table that lists the different purchase options. At first I thought you could only buy the limited version to use with PTLE, but under "HD Version" they list RTAS. Can I buy the HD version for my LE system and use the RTAS plugin with my 002?

Thanks,

cakes

McDSP have 3 versions, HD, Native and LE

HD & Native are identical, except the HD Versions will run on TDM, Native are RTAS only

LE are cut-down versions

buy the Native version for your PTLE rig, as buying the HD version is a waste of money

dj_stick,

I'm trying to avoid dropping $1395 on the Native Bundle. The McDSP website says the HD version ($495) includes an RTAS plugin - can I use that on my 002?

Thanks,

cakes

Native means runs on your host cpu so in PT thats RTAS.If you buy HD, RTAS should work fine on 002. (However an mail to McDsp wont hurt )
But....
If you dont need the multiband part of ml4000 i recommend go LE pack.
You will get much more for your bucks.
I own this bundle (and 002) and i am really happy with it.
ML4000 is soooooo nice!

If you can get the the whole bundle - It's worth every cent.
Better yet get the demo and try it for yourself.

If you really only want a multi-band limiter and are open to trying something new then check Pro Audio DSP's new plug,DSM - Dynamic Spectrum Mapper
Pro Audio DSP is Paul Frindle's new company. Paul used to be with Sony where He was involved with the development of the Oxford stuff. (Oxford plugins are now called Sonnox)

Check it out.

So I talked to McDSP support, and the answer is yes. The HD version will work with PTLE.

They also happen to be having a sale on individual native plugs for $295, so I'm definitely going to be getting the ML4000!
