Hey there, soon i have a very important project to complete...
Ive been getting some great results out of my Digi 001 + Rode NT1 but i want to push the boat out further... Now i have about 200 quid do u think its worth mr getting a new microphone or a channel strip (such as Joe meek ect...) to improve my current setup... i would apreciate your feedback thanks |

Re: Mic or preamp people??
rode NTK is quite a solid investment... the pre's on the digi are good clean pre's. i think anyway...

WHOOOOO!!
I know this is not the exact right thread, but merely the right one on principle. Better a pre than a mic, at least around Christmas. Only a few day ago I got a damn §&%n explodingly great preamp. Seriously. Had to fiddle around with other stuff, so tried miking today first time with it. Lalaman has only one mic, though. There have been people long ago saying here the relatively cheapo AKG C3000 wouldn´t be so good. Today I discovered what little C3000 picks up. Ever heard your jeans shirt while you slowly turn your head to one site? Tell ya, it can sound like when a tree is sawed with a hand saw. No jok´n. And I have mouth clicks. Don´t know who has put them in their, but today they occured. First thought was to dress the mic with a sock. And mids and LF therefore missing? Nope, plenty. I mean pleeeenty. Before judging on a mic try it with a nice pre ( at least one that fits halfways / whether impedance - tube or not etc.) Without one could really miss what such a little thingy can alraedy do. I definitly did. Not that I didn´t find the AKG nice, but what I experienced today made me so lucky. I could tell more about todays incredible experience and me being totally flabbered far beyond my imagination, but don´t want to sound like "there!" Blahblah. I mean, improve your current mic by a good pre ( rather wait until you might get yourself one that you would like to keep for long then ) and buy a better mic later. Lalaman |

To get a good pre-amp that will give you the same sound enhancement you would have to spend close to 1k. Allen |
