It isnt a big problem but It seems weird.

You may want to try increasing the DAE memory allocation. Sometimes when a program is short on RAM it will hang up on quit.

There were two recent posts on setting memory allocation. Give that a shot and hopefully that will correct the problem.

Peace!

I used to have this quite a bit; with over a gig of ram, well allocated. I never found a fix except a clean install of everything (OS, PT, etc.)

Its because Digidesign programed all Digi 001's on a MAC to stop working at the exact time Apple announced it was going to Make digidesign a Pro Audio only software solution.

No more home studios for Digi's future.

sounds an unlikely cure but it could be a corrupt system prefs file.

Remember you're setting and then delete the following files, they've been to blame before for a few errors like that with me :

Sound Preferences
Finder Preferences
System Preferences

drag them to the trash, restart and see if it helps.

If it suddenly started happening and it was okay before, this could solve the problem.

Are you running Pro Tools under a base set of extensions? You can prevent possible extension conflicts by doing so.
Check this out:

Open your Extensions Manager control panel (Apple menu > Control Panels > Extensions manager).
Set your Extension set to "Mac OS 9.x base"
Duplicate the set and give it a name like Pro Tools or something else that lets you know what this set is for (the "Duplicate" button is in the lower right hand side of the Extensions Manager window).
Turn on the Digidesign extensions (Digidesign DSP Manager, Digidesign Stream Manager, Digidesign Direct I/O, Digi System INIT).
Turn on the Open Music System extension.
If you have extensions for a third party MIDI interface or third party plugins, you will want to turn these on as well.
After doing the above, hit the Restart button at the lower part of the Extensions Manager window. Upon restart you will be running in this new extensions set.

If DAE is still demanding a force quit, you may consider reinstalling it from your Pro Tools LE installer CDROM.
