I'm using a Mac Mini with Windows and cannot get any recorded midi notes to play back in time. There is no regularity to the playback, just stuttering. The SPL doesn't move smoothly but jerks from one bar to the next. I've read about MS hotfixes for dual core CPUs but I thought this generally applied to laptops. I use an M Audio midisport 2x2 which doesn't give problems in other apps. I don't have a clue what this could be. BTW, PT runs OK under OSX so maybe the hotfix is the answer. I'm on 7.3.1. Any suggestions?

PT has never (to my knowledge) been qualified for use on macs using XP.

Further, it was recently announced that the final bug fix update for SX/SL 3 users, ardently promised for more than a year, will not ever happen. Any complaints about either situation on thier forum, is met with either silence, or snide insult from SB representatives. The grass isn't always greener... |

Add to the fact that they're trying to use Pro Tools for Windows in a manner that was never intended, tested or qualified, and you've got a serious can o' worms.
That's like trying to run Cubase (or any windows audio program) on Linux under WINE, and then complaining that it doesn't work. Bashing the programmers for not designing it that way is just childish. BootCamp itself is still even in BETA status because THOSE programmers have no idea if Windows XP works properly or not on the code that they have written, let alone programs specifically designed to be run on windows hardware running XP. If you can get it running in a stable manner under BootCamp XP on a mac, you should consider yourself lucky. I certainly intend to try once I get my new MacBook, but I won't blame the developers if it won't work, I'll just use the MAC version on the MAC, which is what it was developed to do. Heck, even regular PC Dual-Core laptops haven't been qualified for PT use under Windows. And you expect a BETA hacked up XP version on a MAC to work? Play the lottery, you'll get better odds.
