I exchanged my Digi001 for an 002 (instead of an 002R) so that I could stay with OS9. I figured that I'd wait for Panter and PTLE to be working seamlessly before taking the plunge. I'm sure there are benefits, but OS9 suits me fine for now. Its not broke, so there's no need to fit it.

Yup, I'm still on OS9. It is tempting to upgrade, but my system works just fine and I only use it for Pro Tools anyway. For me, the main temptation for upgrading is the new Rewire support (I use Reason). But I recently got reFuse which accomplishes basically the same thing, and I've got the hang of it, so I don't think I'll be itching to upgrade anytime soon. Seems like it's more trouble than its worth at this point.

OS9 rocks. On our Dual 1Ghz G-4 quicksilver, we get 32/8 Davec score, it never crashes, never fails. If it ain't broke....

OS9 forever !

Well, at least until I can get all my great free VST instruments (currently sent to PT via MultiVSTshell/Ugly VSTi) and my 52 free Pluggos (samplers, distortions, granular synthesis tools) into OSX .

Down with plastic blue buttons, traffic-light taskbars and Panther wiping hard disks. Not for me ...

well you will never be able to bring OS9 VSTi/VST to OSX but you will soon be able to bring OSX VSTi/VST to RTAS:

This is from http://www.fxpansion.com
VST to RTAS Adapter announced, 2003-10-17:
The VST to RTAS adapter is a new product allowing VST plugins and VSTis to be used transparently in Pro Tools 6 on all platforms. It's only weeks away, and will be priced at just USD99. Check back soon for more information...

That news made me quite happy!!

... said so. I´m also running OS 9 with no problems except wondering why I don´t get any crashes or hangers.
I´ll switch to OS X when I think that it´s stable, compatible with all my plugs n stuff and perhaps when PT runs like a charm in OS X Panther... and you know: that will be a long way to go.

So far I´m stuck on OS 9 and happy

I too am still holding on to OS 9. Although, I do lay awake at night thinking about moving to X. My problem. Recycle has not moved up to OS X. I use it all the time to send sounds to my Emu E5000 sampler (I make electronic music in my apartment). Aparently there are a lot of SCSI problems with OS X (ie Bias Peak can't transfer over SMDI to most hardware samplers in Panther) and Recycle can't transfer sounds over SCSI in Classic. But oh, the soon coming VST wrapper... I just don't know what to do.

Do other people have a method of sending info to EMU's (or other samplers) over SCSI in OS X ?

Chris

I just switched back from os X 10.2.8 to os9. I have an 800mgz iBook, and Protools performance and stability under osX was counter productive. As of 6pm today I'm enjoying the simplicity and speed of os9 again.
