Default Macpro Installation

Anyone installing to a new Macpro receive DAE error -4 upon completing installation and trying to open a session.. Hangs during dsi initialization.

This a brand new system I was asked to troubleshoot. Before I start from scratch just want to see if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks

System is a Macpro
2GB ram
150GB HDD
and 3x 500GB HDD
HD3
192 Digital I/O x3
Control 24

Thanks

Ben

I hope you upgraded to the PCIe cards? If so, I would install the Core only and see if it comes up. Make sure you do the Digi Test all cards.

Yeah that was the first thing I checked,

Cards are
Accel Core for PCIe
and 2 Accel Cards for PCIe

I have checked and rechecked, the cards, their ribbon connections, I have tried with just the core installed in PCIe slot 2

but Like I said, this is a system I was asked to troubleshoot, and they admit that this stuff is beyond their scope of knowledge. So not knowing what they did before I got their, leads me to think its simpler to Wipe the drive Reinstall OSX, and start from scratch.

I was just putting the feelers out to see if it were something simpler that was missing that would cause this error

DAE Error -4

(PT hangs on the DSI inialization, then crashes, telling me to save and restart the session)

Also Digitest crashes when I try to test anything, single cards its starts but crashes 10 seconds into it, all 3 at once crashes immediatley, seleting any of the different tabs causes crash.
So if I have issues with that its possibly an OS thing.

Thanks

Ben

Hey AudioForLife did you find the problem yet? If you did do a reinstall of OSX up to 10.4.8, did you still have the problem?? If so, there may be a bad card or bad ram. If not great!

Hello,

Marvin is right on with his suggestions... the only other thing I could think of (and sounds like most of this has been tried) is to eliminate the core card and see if the Accel card(s) passes Digitest by themselves (without any ribbon cables connected).
Also, as mentioned, see if the core card can pass by itself (sounds like you've tried that though). I hope it isn't a PCIe slot or logic board failure with the computer itself (or RAM or card failure as Marvin mentioned). It seems strange that "ALL" the cards and/or system would go all at once.. yet I seem to recall that a DAE 4 error can indicate a possible Digi card/hardware failure? I would try to digitest each card as mentioned (and cable) individually before ruling anything out to possibly isolate the bad card and/or cable/computer.

Good luck!

PS. I'm not a Digi engineer -and correct me if I'm wrong- but I think just one bad card/ribbon cable could bring the system to a halt or cause said DAE error.

a fresh install of the OS usually fixes this. I've ran into this problem before and you'll just have to start from scratch. Sorry, but I have no better answer. Seems like everything else has been covered here already.

Good luck

I had the same problem with Mac Pro & HD3 couple of months ago...turned out to be a corrupted Accel Card. It worked with Core and the first Accel, the third card installed caused error-4 & crashing digitest.

A fresh card from local distributor cured it. There was also a faulty TDM ribbon cable, which was causing sync error and crash...
