Default MIDI question.. acting weird

Hey all, I just put PT 7.1 on my new computer (pc).. everything is fine except for midi.. here is the problem:
this is only happening for pre-existing sessions I had on PT 6.9..
I have my roland keyboard plugged in and out of the midi ports on the 002R

when i hit play, everything plays (midi, audio, aux's plugs.. etc.), but anything i have on a midi channel only plays for about 1 second
and its random how long the midi lasts, and how many midi tracks actually play.
sometimes its all midi tracks, sometimes its just the snare drum or kick.
sometimes it lasts just long enough to play one midi note, some times it lasts about 2 seconds..

it hasn't once lasted longer than about 2 seconds.

and even though the midi notes don't keep playing, everything else does until i hit stop.

whats goin on here..

i haven't tried a new session yet.. ive got all these old ones i got to deal with first so not sure if it's exclusive to pre-existing sessions, or to new ones as well..

Did you also get a new computer? If so, Is it a dual core AMD? If so, Have you run the AMD dual core hotfix?

It's a Micro$oft problem. Read the Article, read the link from the article to microsoft, and/or download it here.

hey, man

i have a dual core AMD, also.... I had some problems with playback concerning h/w buffers, etc. It would play for a few secs, and BAM -- error message. I did a lot of research, and found a few fixes that solved the problem. I explained in a previous post. Here's the link:

hope it helps...it sure did for me ;-)
