Default Problems, Problems, Problems all day long...

Hey, has anybody had this one??? I formatted a drive in OSX disk utility and checked the box install OS9 drivers, recorded 9 songs for a few days in OS9 on a G4 onto that drive with no problems, then brought the drive home, plugged it into my computer with OSX and was able to open a session and play the song almost to the end, then it said it stopped and said it couldn't acesss the drive fast enough, then the Mac stopped recognizing the drive, so I tried going back to the OS9 computer and that wouldn't recognize the drive either. It'd be awesome to not lose some of the stuff on this drive so if anybody has any ideas on how to get this data back somehow that'd be a miracle....thanks. JP

You could try taking it out of the firewire case and connecting it to the IDE bus inside your Macintosh. If it works that way, suspect some funky business with the firewire electronics in your drive's case.

I believe your preferences have become corrupted. If it told you it was not on a "Digidesign" approved drive, then trash the preferences for OSX and restart the computer. It should be okay.

Whoa, I was starting to lose hope...Disk Warrior is the only thing that will even recognize what it used to be called, but it can't rebuild it......exactly how do I go about trashing the OSX Preferences?? I have a guess but I don't want to mess anything else up...thanks a ton....JP

Follow Chief Technician's advice. I have had a similar problem. . .Disk Warrior can not always rebuild drives on FW. Put it inside you Mac on the ATA bus and then try Disk Warrior. It never hurts to trash the Prefs as well. . .
