Anyone have Ilok failure?

Being down for a week or even a weekend is not an option at all. Ilok as it stands is a no-go.

The I-loks seem to die if your computer spikes the USB or something. There is a lot of people who have had iloks die, search around DUC, RAP etc.
Having your auths downloadable from ilok.com sounds cool. But it only works for macs only, My mac is not on the net I use my home PC to surf..

So an easy answer.
Have pace change the ilok software that will drop your plugins into demo mode for 3 weeks if they cannot find the ilok.

The software should be smart enough to know that it has been authorised by the ilok for the last ??? times you loaded the plug.
So it then could assume that as it always auths you have purchased the software.
So the time it does not find the I-lok it defaults to 21 day demo mode...
Seems quiet simple, then the customer who has paid for the software and used the ilok is not losing business.
When they send you a new i-lok it resets this again in case it dies again.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">If the Ilok itself has a weakness like this, Then That should be addressed. Ability to absorb soem of that should be part of the Ilok, because surges are a part of life....

I've read horrors about it 2 weeks ago on the DUC....
Search for a post from Aquarius, I think it was "Pace's a pain in the ass, Down ILok !" or something...

We´ve had another problem with the ilok.
When we upgraded to PT6.0 the ilok started to ask for password (which we never did set in the first place). According to pace, the only way to get around this, is to send it to them in order to reset the ilok. [img]images/icons/mad.gif[/img]

Guess we´ll be working in OS9 until everything settles.......

I had an iLok die about a year ago, Only Digi stuff at the time on it. Now everything I own is on it (Waves soon) I hope it never breaks again [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

Guys, please don't turn his into a flame war. Iloks fail. that seems like a common thing, with increasing commonality as more and more Iloks make it into the field. we all need to work together to create a situation thats good for everyone, but we also need to be positive and proactive instead of being negative and reactive....
Hopefully, My Ilok problem won't be too much of a hurdle....we'll see.

I just purchased a spare iLok today hoping that if my current one ever dies I can just plug in this new one and get the authorizations deposited into my account. Awesome idea with the fee there. Maybe someone is listening, I would put $500 deposit just to not be down for a couple of days. Or how about I send in my Masterlist CD and Soft Samplecell as collateral [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]
