Default building a custom C24 desk...

I would like to get some opinions on this desk here. This desk is from Sound Contruction & Supply. The c24 is countersunk -5 degrees towards the back to get the faders to be at 0 degrees horizontal. Plus this desk is more like my Argosy Dual 15 that I was using for mastering.

This is a nice design. Have some pics up of our build in a couple of weeks.

In curious why so many of the C|24 desks look like they block the vents in the top rear of the console. I haven't seen one in person so this may just be the photos but given all the trouble with power supplies, blocking the vents seems to be bad idea.

I had this custom desk built by Cascade productions. It's Maple with Walnut inlay and the vents in the top are open. There are doors in the top that you can access wiring.

Bruce the desk looks very nice.... But it dosen't seem ergonomic. Is there space for your legs underneath? Does that extra blue piece in the front cause you to reach further? How is the computer keyboard working for you off to one side? The craftsmanship looks excellent, I'm not to sure of the design.

The desk is very ergonomic. The space under the front is about a foot tapering to 18". Here is another view:

The extra "blue" piece is about 6".. perfect to write notes and I can still reach the top/back of the board sitting down.

Bruce

WOW Bruce, GREAT looking setup for Post!! Makes it easy to see how to integrate one in my post work. Thanks for the pics!! I'm currently running a pair of 23" Apple Cinema displays on either side of my center speaker and it looks like a similar setup as yours would easily work with those.

Do you run anything through the monitor section or simply use it as a control surface? Right now I'm using the StudioComm 69A Surround Monitor Controller and it works well enough.

I tried the Avocet Surround today as a controller and it did sound better. It wasn't a BIG improvement like I had expected. Everyone keeps putting down the monitor section, but I still feel it's a very viable choice without having to spend a lot more money for an outboard unit.
YMMV!

Bruce
