Default Selecting inactive tracks

I've imported a session from an HD rig onto my LE so naturally I can't view all of the 60 some odd tracks on that song at once, but how do I select and deselect tracks for activating. It shows audio tracks active but shaded grey. How do I swap tracks around to get the tracks I need?

You'll need to make some other tracks inactive first to free up 'voices'. If you've got a right click mouse, then right clicking on the track brings up a menu which includes an option to 'make inactive'. Alternatively, the same option can be accessed under the track menu at the top of the PT window. Deactivating is simply the same process in reverse.

If you want to do further work on the session in LE, your best bet would be to make logical groups of tracks active and bounce these down to a sub-mix. Thereafter, deactivating the sub-mix constituent tracks (and hiding if appropriate).

Right- the problem is that I have active tracks that PT is keeping shaded (not italicized) and isn't reading.

If they're shaded and not italicized, then I'd hazard a guess that,

1. They're inactive audio tracks.
2. They're audio tracks in blocks mode but these still playback so probably not this.
3. They're not audio tracks but Midi or Instrument tracks in regions mode.

As you probably know, if they're italicized and shaded, then PT was unable to find and relink the the audio. Check in the regions bin just to be sure this isn't the case.
