The Command+Spacebar doesn't record

When I hit the "Command" and "Spacebar" keys to initiate recording, it doesn't work. I have already disabled the spotlight command in system preferences.

Does any one have an idea on this?


I'm running a MacBook Pro, 2.16 Ghz processor, 2GB of Ram, 10.6.4 OS
Pro Tools 8.0.4 cs2.

Does the record button in the transport controls flash, when you hit command+space, or is nothing happening at all?

Yes, I've armed the tracks. The even funnier thing I forgot to mention is that I turned off "Dashboard" so when I use the F12 button or the number "3" key on the "number keypad" record works perfectly.

Nothing happens at all when I hit the command+spacebar combination.

I also have the same problem, the Pro Tools 101 book mentions the Command-Space Bar shortcut (record straight away without going to record ready mode first). F12 and numeric keypad 3 seem to work fine.

Did anyone solve this issue?

is Spot Light still enabled? it is the same short cut command and supersedes Pro Tools command

Have you restarted your computer yet?

I had the same issue, but the solution was to disable spotlight and then restart. The restart part took me the longest to figure out.

In Mac:

1) Click the apple
2) Then System Prefs
3) Click Spotlight
4) Turn it off or change to key that's not being used by pro tools.
