Winamp + ASIO output driver = :)

I don't know if I'm in the darkages or what, but I thought I'd give you guys the heads up on Winamp 5 + the ASIO plugin!!! Meaning you can playpack CD's, mp3's, DVD's, or whatever media you want through Winamp using your Digidesign hardware as the main output device. Of coarse you have to use PT6 with the new ASIO driver installed for it to work together. I find the sound quality FAR more superior to using a second crap soundcard patched into inputs 3&4 on the Digi001 using monitor mode to listen to music. If your interested, here's the links.

ASIO plugin

The ASIO driver link is in another language so find the link that says "out asio(exe) 041a.zip". When downloaded, unzip and put the ASIO dll in the Winamp plugin folder. Then under Winamp's Preferences/output, select the ASIO driver and configure. Remember that you can't use Protools or an ASIO program at the same time as Winamp (only one ASIO program at a time).

WinAmp5 also works with the WaveDriver 6.1.1 if you don't want to use the ASIO driver.

I find the Wave driver screws up my system. The ASIO driver dosn't do any harm. But hey.. if it works

I use both the WaveDriver and ASIO 6.1.1 and haven't had any issues.

Nope

Asus P4C800 Deluxe with Pentium 4 processor.

My previous Pentium based system had a VIA chipset motherboard which didn't have issues with the drivers either.

Will you please excuse me, but I haven't been able to configure the asio driver in Winamp 5, it says "out_asio(exe).exe cannot be started"... And oh, by the way, how come my Wavedriver 6.1.1 can't read 48 kHz files, and can't record in Sound Forge either ??

Sound Forge plays back 48kHz files fine here.. how ere the files created? The 6.1.1 WaveDriver is for playback only.
