I don’t see anything stating that anything has changed in this regard. I do however see a plethora of info describing how to do it. Heck, there’s even an Apple knowledge base article about it.

On a new M2? That would be impossible since the new M2s we’re discussing in this thread come with Ventura.

Yes, I read all the Apple knowledge base articles.
Yes, I read all the online recommendations.
Yes, I fastidiously tried it for three hours. ON A MAC MINI M2.
And a thousand times yes, I followed the protocols for Silicon, not Intel.

Apple simply has not posted new downgrade info for these new machines in their knowledge base yet.

Flatly, by all measures, it cannot be done. Get back to me if you succeed in downgrading Ventura 13.2 to any earlier version of Ventura on a Mac Mini M2 - the subject of this thread, or any proof that someone actually succeeded. I’d like to see that. Thanks.

I was replying to a different poster and had already stated it was an M1 MBA.

Best of luck with your new machine.

Downgrade can be done back to the version your computer model first left the factory. No, not your own piece of hardware, but the model. Apple has not made it easy, because they want people to upgrade so they can upsell, but it surely can be done.

Except on the new M2s that dropped last week.
Which is what this thread is about.

We can place bets on whether or not there will be a native M2 release before October. I'll be looking into other DAW software options in the meantime if I want to test the new M2 Max for audio workflow. If I didn't have this outlook, I would consider a subscription to rival my working 14 year old laptop that gets the job done. I've been spending increasingly more time in Logic Pro before I have to do mission critical mixing, so that would be my first attempt on the new machine.

Nope. This thread started late January, so it was about something else. But you are right, and the point has been repeated many times: you cannot downgrade to a version earlier than the one Apple originally shipped the model. It has always been like that.
