Default HD Native latency

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone running an HD Native system with pt9.

Does one have to turn on low latency monitoring, a la PTLE? Where is this done?

How would one go about sending 8 channels of low latency audio to hearback system, for instance? Does low latency mode only apply to 2 channels, like LE?

How small is the latency if I don't turn on low latency mode? Imagine I was running a full TDM HD system, with the buffer at 256 (which sounds like direct monitoring in headphones) - how much more latency does HD Native produce at this buffer size? Does it start to become a fight between buffer size and computer crashes?

Generally it'd be good to hear peoples thoughts and experiences, especially in comparison to full HD.

Thanks

Your best bet is to check out this thread over on Gearslutz.com:

But basically, to answer your question, it's only 2 channels, just like LE. However, because of the design of the new Avid interfaces, like the Omni, even without using low latency, it's faster at a certain buffer setting than it would be with other hardware. In other words, a buffer of 128 feels like 64, 64 feels like 32, etc.

Low Latency Monitoring with Pro Tools HD Native gives you the ability to assign any available Output path for Low Latency Monitoring in the I/O Setup Output Tab. So when TrackInput Monitoring is enabled the Plug-In chain is bypassed. This functionality is HD Native Only.
