10.8, Kontakt 5 and 10.3

Anyone successfully running full Kontakt with 10.3 and 10.8? It crashes PT on launch 100% of the time if the plugin is in the folder. Hope they'll release an AAX plugin soon, but until then, am stupefied why it's crashing.

It's also noted on the NI forum, but no response from NI yet.

TIm, here is what you wanna do...

Quit out of Protools,
Launch K5 stand alone and load ONE patch from the factory Library
Now launch Protools and load up Kontakt

As for now, you will need to push this workaround a couple of times a day, probably as am I... But it works here like this, 100% of the time

Thanks for the tip, but no go. Still crashes on launch. Stand alone works fine. Deleted Kontakt prefs a bunch. In 10.8 I could get it to launch by deleting the prefs, and launching Kontakt, and making sure memory server was unchecked. It would crash on startup in PT if memory server was on.

But now, no matter how many times I delete the Kontakt prefs and make sure memory server is off, 100% of the time if the Kontakt plug is in the plugins folder, it crashes ProTools on launch.

This started with 10.8.1 by the way.

Such a drag. Others are noticing it on NI forum. Weird.

Just have to hope for an NI fix I guess, but hard to live without Kontakt

Yep, tried several times, crashes still 100% of the time doing exactly as you did. Bummer.

This is working for me too, just by starting up K5 stand alone. Didn't need to load any instruments, and closed it after PT was opened. As long as I used 'close session' it worked for every session until I actually 'Quit PT' then I had to start the stand-alone Kontakt again. Thanks 25G! This is much better than watching the 'beach ball'

Sorry to hear you're having problems but thanks for the heads up! You've just saved me a LOT of pain!

Total fail on this end. Mountain Lion, PT 10.3HD & Kontakt 5.03 causes PT to crash when starting up. If I remove Kontakt from the plugins folder all is okay. At the moment I'm using bidule rewire as the host for Kontakt.

Got a response from NI & they acknowledge there is an issue.

1) Did you turn off Multiprocessing in Kontakt
2) In the stand alone toggle enable memory server.
3) Quit Protools and Start Standalone and load ONE patch from K5's factory library. Keep it open
4) Launch Protools

I have been having those problems since Mountain Lion but above workflow does it for me...

Give it a few goes... You should be ok...
