Hi,
Until now I have been a Windows-user. About 3 or 4 years ago I purchased & registered an Mbox2 with PT LE 6.8.1. After installing I also got a free upgrade to PT 7.0. I purchased a Command8 a year after. This has been running on my PC without real problems ever since. After 'upgrading' myself to an iMac Intel Core 2 Duo (2,66GHz, 4GB RAM) I just got to know that I cannot install my version of PT on it. Now, my question is: is there any (free?) upgrade to 7.4.1 to download or do I have to purchase a completely new license to make my PT work on my iMac? What's the best (and cheapest) way to solve this? Thanx for any suggestion! |

It depends on what version of OSX is on the iMac. If it is new then, no your version of PT will not work
No free upgrade to 7.4 ($150) and you can update to V8 for the same price GO here: http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...4&itemid=23639

Thnx! I had been reading those pages already, but I didn't find 'the' answer to my questions.
So, I have to buy an upgrade to 7.4 first & then an upgrade to 8? But I cannot install 7.4 on my OS X 10.5.7, so how does it work, how can I install v8? It is not possible to go directly to 8 (or only by buying a complete new PT + hardware)? Where can I find the download-links for the both upgrades? Thnx again! |

You can upgrade directly to V8 for $150
In fact, you are better off not installing any older version first. The V8 installer is a full installer, not just an "upgrade" as the marketing description seems to imply. To purchase the new version, you need to log in to the Digi store. It is a huge Download (4+GB) so plan on giving it a while. You can also buy a hardcopy DVD from them but it costs more.. Some retail stores might have it as well

I would go buy the retail package. Its the same price and you get a nice hard copy to keep for future use.
