mbox 2 vs digi 003 work station
Does anyone know about the difference in the sound quality of the mic preamps on these two interfaces? i need better vocal quality.

The sound difference will be marginal. The newer Mbox 3 units are getting better reviews. With the Mbox2, you best bet is to use an external preamp with SPDIF and bypass the analog input completely. If you can afford it, the API A2D is excellent. ART makes the Digital MPA which is a budget piece, but ight give you a better sound(this is all subjective and only your ears can decide). Maybe this is a good excuse to upgrade to the new Mbox3 PRO and get better sound, AND more inputs? I use a Focusrite ISA428 for my "money" preamps when recording on my 003 system. Focusrite makes the ISA-ONE, but I don't know if it has SPDIF out. Also-you never mention what mic you are using, so maybe a better mic is what you need first???
