Good upgrades for the 002 rack\'s ADC ,and pre\'s.
Is Black Lion Audio really the way to go? Besides that option, what are some ACD and preamp products that are in the 300 - 1000$ range that will up the sound quality of the 002r? Thanks for any info. -violet

Re: Good upgrades for the 002 rack\'s ADC ,and pre\'s.
We discussed a few mic preamp and ADC upgrades in your previous posts. Is there are particular sound you are trying to acheive. It sounds like you want to upgrade your mic preamps and ADC but is the 002r's sound not meeting your needs? I find the mic preamps pretty good for a clean uncolored sound. I'll use other mic pres if I want something more colored only. I personally use a Universal Audio LA-610 mostly for vocals. I don't have the Black Lion Mods on my 002r but my understanding that it is a very good upgrade but still for the purpose of a clean uncolored sound. Hence, if you don't like the 002r's uncolored sound, the Black Lion upgrade will get you just more good uncolored sound. I'm not sure if that is what you are after or not. There are a lot of factors that go into the recorded sound. The mic, the room, the acoustic treatment, the monitoring system, etc. Don't get too caught up in the gear (as many of us have) and focus on the music.

Re: Good upgrades for the 002 rack\'s ADC ,and pre\'s.
Thanks for your help Obsidian I really appreciate it.
I've been in a band for four years now, and we are finally going to record our first EP. We really have something good going and I just want the most professional sound possible without going to a studio.(I want to take my time to get everything perfect, definitly don't want to be rushed you know) Reading these threads it looks like the 002 pre's and ADC's aren't as good as other stuff out there and I was just wondering if there are pre's and ADC's that are better than the 002's for less than 1000$. Am I looking to get a warm colored sound on Vocals? or any other instrment for that matter?
