Default sound manager input impedence?

Can anyone tell me what the impedence of the built in audio input on an imac and g3 powerbook is? I have a sony stereo mic which I currently use with a minisisc player (9v battery powered). I would also like to run a line level input into this input, so is there any way of doing this?
Any advice much apppreciated
