That's funny, the link works when I click on it.

Anway, here's the url for the link without the fancy UBB formatting. Hope this works.

Default Shared Soundcard Woes in Win XP

I'm trying to use my AMIII card as the only sound device for my computer. The card works fine for ProTools applications, but refuses to play anything from any other source (real audio, win media player, CD, etc.) Dell Dimension 8200 dual HD, 512 megs ram. Win XP. PTLE 5.3.1

The primary issue seems to be that in "Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices - Volume Tab" it lists "No Audio Device" and I can't figure out how to change that. Under the "Audio" and "Voice" tabs, the default device listed is "Modem #1 Line Playback (or Record)" and there is no other selection available to choose.

I've removed and reinstalled the wave driver software to no avail. And I've searched the DUC and haven't found this particular issue discussed.

Any ideas?

I am having the same issue:

I just upgraded from an Mbox Pro to a digi003. I remember seeing it bragged somewhere that the 003 came with tools that made it even easier for a local system to consume the sound card of 003 but unfortunately I too can not get my 003 to work with my computer as a sound device even though the Mbox Pro worked perfectly in such a manner with absolutely no setup headaches.

Please someone post a solution because I do use my 003 as not only a recording station but also a teaching station and need it to perform in such a manner.

Thank you.

Dynamo, no offense is intended as I know you are new here(and welcome to the DUC too) but this is known as "thread hijacking" and you would be better served by posting your own thread about your specific troubles(which, believe me, are not the same as this OP with an AMIII card). Meanwhile, check my response here;

Rick, which version of XP are you using? If its SP2 or 3, that would be a problem as only 6.4 with cs6 AND cs9 will run on XP with SP2 or 3.
