Default 12.8.2 Runs great on my Win 10 Machine

Not trying to start a flame war, but to report that it isn't all doom and gloom. So I thought I should chime in and report that I have had no issues recording or mixing plugin heavy sessions or GUI stuttering issues with 12.8.2. None with 12.8.0 either. I am running an i7 6900k, a Nvidea GF1070, 32 gigs of ram, a Gigabyte Mobo, and a multitude of drives.

I am running Windows 10 Pro build 1709 (Fall Creators update)

Same here. Seems not to be taking so long to close now. No idea how the new features will benefit my work though

EDIT: it takes pretty much the same time to close, nothing has changed on that side. Another thing I've noticed is UVI workstation is killing voices on sessions where it used to work fine but apart from the big VCA issue this upgrade hasn't been as painful as others.

Hi.
I actually installed 12.8.2 R2 yesterday and recorded yesterday and today without any problems. Don't use Win10 but Win7, but havn' had any problems. Not using Midi so can't say anything about that....

I haven't had any problems with 12.8.2 or 12.8.2R2 on my Win 10 Bootcamp partition. 12.8.2 and R2 both work fine on my High Sierra partition as well.

I am getting cpu spikes and am still working to figure it out(this has been happening for the last several builds so I don't blame 12.8.2). If I open Task Manager>Performance Tab>Ethernet, I see a spike at every 30 seconds. I have disconnected the internet(no change). Closing Avid's app manager helps a little. It seems to settle down after the first 10 minutes(no idea why). The same session might record for 10 minutes straight, or might stop(cpu spike) at 10 seconds in, or a minute in. Still investigating here.

There was an issue with the Nvidia driver causing spikes in my system. I'm not sure if that ever got fixed, as I moved from my Quadro card to a basic Radeon to get running again.

Running latencymon showed a massive latency caused by the Nvidia driver. Running with the basic Windows driver I didn't have the issue.

Might be something to look into.

Joel

Try updating the NVidia card, then uninstalling everything to do with the card except the NVidia Graphics Driver and NVidia PhysX System Software. That was one of the recommendations I found when I had issues with my RME interface.

This is exactly how my graphics is and still am getting spikes and stops. I just removed some extra crap and moved all my Plugin Alliance stuff out of the plugins folder and will test again.

Still getting random stops and 9172 or 9093 errors....session might record for 3 seconds, 1 minute, 10 minutes......
DPC Latency checker has everything at or below the yellow line.
Disconnected internet=no change
Disabled Network card=no change
run session from SSD(system drive) and 7200 rpm recording drive=no change
uninstalled Avid App manager and cloud services=no change
Committed click and disabled original click track=no change
Disable plugins=no change

Not sure if this matters, but cpu sits at around 15% at idle, but as soon as I put tracks into record-ready, cpu jumps to 55-60%

Only if I use Isotope Ozone 5. THAT plugin seems to have problems. Everything else is fine. I can load-up as many as my session can fit and it runs great.
