Any other Radio Producers that could share tips?

As I don't really use Pro Tools for music production, I was hoping there may be others who use it to make promo's and such?

If anyone has any cool tips for making effects/eq-ing tip for voices/cool effects for mixing or changing the sound of music, it would be really helpful if you would share.

Your best friend is D-Fi. It offers Vari-fi (it can make voices, music, effects etc.sound like a phonograph record speeding up or slowing down to a stop). It also gives you the ability to degrade the sound by reducing the bit depth, reducing the sample rate, adding noise, etc. It's easy to make it sound like your voice was recorded in the 1930s. It has other cool stuff too.

You can also use the Digirack pitch shift plug-in to make it sound like two different people are delivering the copy when really it's just you. Pitch one up, one down, talk with slightly different accents, etc.

Also, the time compression/expansion audio suite plug-in allows you to do that 72 second spot in 60 seconds, or squeeze that tag into the tiny 3-second donut they allowed for it.

Another cool thing is to double a voice track and then try nudging one of the tracks foward or backward in the timeline. You can get everything from cool phasing to something that sounds like a short delay -- like a voice bouncing off the wall.

The key input on the compressor allows you to duck musical beds and ambient sound beds.

You can also reverse a track, put an audio suite reverb or delay on it, then reverse it back for that spooky/trippy reverse reverb or reverse echo effect.

Putting your voice through Amplitube is also fun. Crank it up for lots of distortion and tweak the other controls to amuse yourself.

The Waves Q10 (if you have it) has a very cool "telephone" preset that can make your voice sound like it was recorded off a phone.

I'm only beginning to scratch the surface. What PT can do for radio production is AMAZING.

I have also used Antares AVOX, iZotope Trash and the free iZotope Vinyl(This one is amazing. Cant believe it's free) on radio ads with success.

Thank you so much, this will give me loads of stuff to try out in work today. I reverse the voice and reverb quite a lot already. Its such a great effect!
