I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!!!!! Anyone with an MBOX CPU holding off USB problem, listen up!! If you keep getting that horrible error message "CPU holding off USB..." go to your energy saver icon in the system prefs panel, set them ALL to NEVER, uncheck put hard disk to sleep....., go to the options tab and select "highest" for the processor (NOT AUTOMATIC). The last step is the most important and is probably the only thing holding you back.

Excellent - I'd kind of expected you'd already have done the things listed in the 'OS X/Pro Tools 6.x setup and general troubleshooting' thread at the top of this forum.

I can get quite a lot working on my PowerBook with 002, even with it set to 'Automatic', but the 'Highest' setting definitely makes a big difference.

Hey Influenceaudio, What system do you have? I already had both settings to "NEVER" but the option doesn't have a set to "Automatic" or "Highest"... I'm running 10.3.6. Thanks.

I have a New G5 Imac 1.6M with 1Gig RAM PT LE 6.4 MBOX 10.3.6 OS X. In the energy control panel there is one of three option's at the top, choose options then click HIGHEST for processor performance. The last step is the most important step. Good luck

For those of you who have a G4 Dual 1 like I do, this does not apply to you.

Automatic processor performance was introduced in the following computers:

* PowerBook G4 (12-inch DVI)
* PowerBook G4 (15-inch FW 800)
* PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.33 GHz)
* Power Mac G5
* iBook G4

I was hopeful for only a ........hmm............a second. This sucks! I really do place a lot of blame on how terrible they've treated LE users. If MOTU would introduced a couple Core cards at a third of the price, I'd be kissing HD goodbye...

while your problems may be totally unrelated to this...I find it interesting how many people complain about performance issues yet run an unqualified version of OSX (10.3.6 is not yet qualified by digi))

yep. i have begun to love this 10.3.4 panther version as it seems to be the most stable and reliable osx version ever released. "if it ain't broke, don't break it!"

why the need to upgrade? because apple offers an update? no-no-no-no-no...

if protools 6.7 offers you a feature you cannot live without, then you look at 6.7 requirements and see if you need to upgrade something. if you can live without 6.7 and 6.4 works wonderfully for you, then you don't upgrade as any changes may be making it worse.

people, get it, there's absolutely no need to upgrade just for upgrade's sake. mac is not a windows, it won't blow if you don't have the latest.

Hello jlcnyc,

I totally understand what you are saying, I never update osx if I know that it will not work... but my new mac G5 already came with osx 10.3.5 and is it not good that an application as protools is being not qualified for the system that came with the new machines.
another thing is that the details of the updates of macosx 10.3.6 talk about usb audio systems, and thats why I update 10.3.6
