Default iMac G5 testing?

hi folks,

i've been itching to buy the iMac G5 1.6ghz, but its not yet qualified by digi.
would i be making a mistake not to wait until testing is done on it before buying??
i plan on running it with the MBox. any happy campers out there? any pitfalls??

thanks for the help

I have a G5 1.6 with 1 Gig of RAM running an MBOX with PT LE 6.4. I seem to be having performance issues. I am taking my 3rd party 1 Gig RAM stick back to be replaced to see if that fixes it. I can't even have 5 plug ins on 8 tracks before a CPU holding off USB error message appears. Other than tht the G5 kicks major ass!!

Mate, I'll post some first impressions and some stress test scores, just as soon as my 20" G5 iMac arrives - hopefully in a week or so. The wait is killing me though!

Cheers

You may have already read my posts, but I will give it to you here 1 more time just in case you haven't. I have a brand new Imac G5 1.6 17" with an MBOX and PTLE 6.4. I found what was causing my performance problems. I have used the IMAC for the past 24 hours straight. I have filled it up with 32 tracks, a plug in on every track, reason with tons of MIDI channels and plug ins everywhere with not 1 interrupt, crash, or error message. The machine kick's ass. If you don't change the processor performance from Automatic to Highest and set ALL of your energy saver settings to NEVER with the "put disk to sleep....." UNCHECKED you will live through a nightmare of the worst kind. I love this new Imac G5!

Thanks for the update. When I get my 002r I'll do some testing with the firewire route.
