AAE error -9173 stronger than ever on PT 12.5

All, bumping up the H/W Buffer Size in the playback engine does much to alleviate the problem if you're working on a critical session. And I think that's a better temporary solution for many than to start uninstalling components of 12.5 or going back to 12.4, IMHO. Tracking at 256 or 512 sample latency is no fun, but it's the reason I still (and will continue for a while) use interfaces that offer zero latency monitoring. BTW glad to see the response from the Moderators and know that Avid is aware of and working on the problem. Seems to me this is a deep coding issue and might be hard to find...

I agree fully. I deep coding issue. Hopefully they are addressing this in 12.6 but I'm not counting on it. They haven't fixed it in years so why now.

The difference is, I can run 12.4 at a 128 buffer in HDX.

I had never seen this error until I downgraded from 11HD to 12 vanilla and only then at 12.5 did it rear it's ugly head. I had one session that had almost become unplayable.

I'm happy to report that 12.6 has so far seemed to fix it. The session I was having all the problems with now plays as it should!

I'm wondering how you guys actualy experience that same problem.
Because I can work without any problems, bounce stuff and all (some people seemed to have trouble there already) but as soon as I save the session and reopen it I can see in any Kontakt 5 instance, that PT12 seems believes the CPU is at 100% which leads to the error as soon as I hit play and also I would have no live output from the instruments when playing via Midikeyboard, which is another hint that PT get's stucked right from the begining loading the project.

I figured out that removing the Kontaktinstrument, saving the session, reopening it again and then manualy reloading the instrument works...but not having enough space on my SSD for all that libraries that's quite time (and nerve) consuming ^^

downgrading to 12.4 didn't change a thing for me...I'm currently downloading 12.6 though :)

UPDATE:

Hey Folks, I just figured out, that turning off 360 Total Security does the trick for me ^^ I thought I had done this already but going through all possible steps again now finaly yielded some results :)

If someone experiences the 9173 error the same way I did, give it a try

I've been hammering this forum for awhile about my issues of -9173 with no solution until now Avid said is fixed in 12.6. Can anyone who has already downloaded 12.6 please confirm. The quote on the fix list stills seems a bit vague to me.

Hi,
All through the 12.5 series I was plagued by 9173 which made the software unusable and pretty promptly I returned to 12.4. I have though been running 12.6 now for the last 24 hours in Win 7 and so far its been good. I have noticed that the usage meter now behaves properly (or should I say more properly) and that the huge spikes and the constant background meterage is gone. Hopefully it's been put to bed fingers crossed !

12.6 has not resolved the 9173 issues at my end unfortunately on numerous systems with any sessions using Kontakt 5.*
