Im running PTLE 8.0.3 with Cs3

I have get the DAE error 1115 when starting pro tools for the first time.
the next time i start PT it works. but my playback had HORRIBLE distortion.


any thoughts?

Yep. You need to use a separate dedicated 7200-rpm hard drive for recording. recording to the system drive won't work. And since it's a laptop, we're talking Firewire or E-sata. No USB externals.

Regardless of which interface, you still can't get away with recording to your system drive, as you've discovered.

Yes I do have an external eSata 7200rmp hard drive.

It is an issue witht eh iCore5 chipset.\

Bump. I just bought this same model... but if it's not compatible with pt then I'll return it within the 14 days that I have. Can someone please advise? I was planning on buying pt 8 to use with this laptop, but I don't want to buy it now after reading this!

i have a dell inspiron wit a i5 and its all good in the hood over here!!!!!
windows 7 64 bit 8.0.3 with the 8.0.4 64bit drivers.... just follow ALL of the advice you read hear.... and make sure you are recording to a second drive....fo realz! if you are getting the distorted playback the only way that i was able to fix it was to do a full windows reinstall... i fought it till the bitter end but after i did that and followed the install instructions word for word than installed a wd caviar black... i am getting beautiful performance out of this system.
