Default Connecting to MiniDisk

Does anyone know if it's possiable to connect the Optical out on the Digi002R to the optical in on a Sony MiniDisk Sterio Recorder, I tried and with some hardware adjustments, I no longer got a lock error on the sony, but it doesn't seem to be recording.

I already know I can use a Coaxil S/PDIF and use an COAIX to Optical converter and it works, but why not stright Optical to optical

any ideals

I think it would be because the optical out on the 002 is an ADAT optical (8 channels of audio). The optical input on the MD is a stereo channel interface. I wouldn't think that the two formats could talk to one another without some kind of converter in between?

It could be that I'm full of s&!^ though...

I don't know about the 002, but I would think it'd be the same as the 001. You can have the optical out 'mirror' SPDIF as opposed to ADAT. Its a setting. Reply if you need to know where to set it. If you don't have the optical set to send SPDIF format, it won't lock with your Sony. I'm fairly confident though that the 002 optical operates the same as the 001 optical. This will also be described in the manual.

That's right...go into the Playback Engine setup window, then select Other Options. You should see a box labeled Optical Optical Format. Change it from ADAT to S/PDIF and see if that works.

Good luck!
