Default Noise/Glitch Pro Tools Academic 7.3.1cs1

Since I updated my Pro Tools M-powered Academic 7.1 to the 7.3 version, I hear noise/glitch, a bit like an annoying click. I tried updating to 7.3.1... same thing. 7.3.1 cs1 also.

HELP plz.

Do you have an external hard drive set up? It could be you've got it set up incorrectly. I had those annoying clicks that seem to be in time, and that was my problem..

I did. I didn't work.

Yes I have. But the pro tools session on my internal hard drive do the same things.

I am assuming this is your external drive. You need to run your sessions off of a fire wire drive not usb. Also check all of the other system requirements for Pro Tools to run on your system. If you are recording to your external drive, make sure it is fire wire and I would also format that drive to NTFS, not FAT 32. Also follow the steps HERE.

I believe your major issue is hard drive related. Also, as a note, Digi does not recommend or support recording to your system drive. This is a well known fact.

I grabbed this from the Digi Support pages

Quote:
USB 2.0 Hard Drives
USB hard drives are NOT recommended or supported for use as recording drives. Limited testing has shown that performance with USB drives is inferior to that of FireWire drives.

Quote:
Hard Drive Minimum Requirements

Dedicated audio drive or drives (internal or external). Recording to or playback from system drives is not supported.

what you are doing / have done is UNSUPPORTED.

you should consider buying an additional IDE/SATA/SATA2 hard drive (one that is 7200 rpm).

they are only $35 on http://www.pricewatch.com

from what you stated, you are using two partitions on the same hard drive - doing this is NOT supported.

you need a separate hard drive to record / store your audio.

good luck with that.
