Re: minimum cpu requirements
That's a big problem. Minimum requirement for LE 7.4 is 1Gig, and you'll certainly need more if you run much in the way of VI's, Samplers, etc.
Even if you upgrade your RAM, I would suggest looking at this: http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...5&itemid=28565 to make sure the rest of your hardware is compatible. Good luck. . .

Re: minimum cpu requirements
thanks, ive been trying to find that page. I think I over bought with pro tools, probably should have stuck with a simpler program. I just want to record some vocals and guitar tracks. and maybe add some drum effects or a midi synthesizer. I currently have an IBM desktop with windows xp proffesional w/ service pack 2. pentium 4 2.66 ghz, and 256 mb ram. I can upgrade to 1 gig of ram for $70.00 IF I do that, will I be ok? I have pro tools le 7.3 and m-box mini. Thanks for any help!!

Re: minimum cpu requirements
What is a firewire? Now I am a bit scared. Firewire is a transfer interface that is used for external drives, video cameras and digital audio interfaces such as those from DIGI, Presonus or MOTU. You need firewire IF you have either a firewire DIGIDESIGN interface(003, 003, Mbox2 PRO), or you want to record to an external hard drive(USB is not supported but firewire is). External hard drives need to use the Oxford chipset or they may not work. Most desktop computers have space inside for expansion by adding a second internal drive(definitely the cheapest route). Since I don't know if your computer is compatible, I recommend adding RAM anyway and 256 is really not even enough to run Windows effectively. Add at least a 512 stick (or 2) and add a second internal drive(7200 rpm is a must but size can be whatever you can afford). When you format the second drive. make sure you format it as BASIC and not DYNAMIC(not supported). Install your protools software and pay strict attention to the directions in the Getting started guide(if you do the old "attach the hardware and let Windows do its thing", most likely your install will not work. I suggest you read the tweaking section twice, perform the tweaks, then read the install instructions twice before you tackle it as that will save you lots of headaches.
