Default Re: Can I operate pro tools faders from computer keyboard?

You could open the output window, highlight the volume value and use up/down arrows.
But the value will only be written upon pressing "enter". (Whereas using the scrollwheel will instanteanously update the volume automation writing.)
And thereafter, the value in the output window is not highlighted anymore.
So, nothing for volume riding.
Also interested in the method of metalmixer.

I would like a preference for that; requested on ideascale :

that would be your mouse preference in your OS. scroll speed, acceleration(that increases on my scroll wheel).

Yep I decided to order the Fader Port as well after reading a post on another thread. I also pick up a NI S61Komplete Controller since I'm so heavily invested in Komplete 9 Ultimate. Getting ready to let the creatives juices flow!

Unfortunately, changing within the OS the "lines-per-detent" from 3 to 6 or 28 does not result in any change.
It looks like, the dB-per-detent is fixed to 0.1 within PT.

Not quite what the OP asked for, but you can nudge clip gain up/down using Start+Shift+up/down arrows. See shortcuts guide page 22.

Further, the clip gain nudge increment can be specified in Preferences (Editing tab).

Combined with the P/;/L/' keys and with a finger already on Shift, you can navigate among clips and adjust clip gain using just the keyboard.

What happens to my mouse is that it is accurate when slowly scrolling but I can scroll fast to jump to different values. I still find dragging the fader way more accurate. I would get that faderport but I was bummed to find that the shift features don't work according to some reviews.

Have you tried holding the command key while dragging the fader with a mouse?

Yes, PT fader resolution is 0.1dB per detent. How much more accurate it needs to be? Usually people start noticing a difference when you move it more than a full decibel.

I was complaining about 0.1dB/detent to be a too small step, hence my request :http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/...nt/244552-3779
