Default Avid Support - email support, fix downloads?

Apologies if this has already been asked, but the new Avid support options could be interpreted to imply that we can't download fixes (cs and plug-ins) nor email Digi/Avid without a support contract. Is this right? If so, it's a brutal way of introducing a support tax.

However, if we can still email support and download fixes for free, and if the support contract enables us to download new versions of PT "for free", then it's probably fair. Can someone clarify?

Thx

There are tons of message boards going crazy about these new support issues, but nobody seems to really know much about it.
Hope Digi clarifies. If I can't talk to anyone at Digi when something's wrong without paying money, then I'm migrating away.

Yeah, exactly.

Digidesign, please clear this up before we go insane.

I don't think this applies to Digidesign products (or M-Audio for that matter). If you go to the "Support and Downloads" section of the Digidesign website, everything is the same as it ever was.

I certainly hope we're freaking out over nothing.
But the fact that Avid have announced their re-branding and that the up till now separate entities (Digidesign, Avid, Maudio, etc) would become one integrated entity is a worry.
I just hope Digidesign responds to this issue.

Then why are there options for Pro Tools HD and Mix rigs in the Avid Support page of the Avid Store. LE systems are there too. Not to mention it's up on Digi front page. It's happening. And the prices are way out there.

It does appear that Avid wants to bleed their only profitable business venture, it seems that strategy was what hurt them in the first place. I'm sure we are all interested in an Avid response.

This is what is said on the Irish store

€348 for PT HD/Mix systems.

It seems to be for online/phone tech support. I agree it does say software updates on there aswell. I hope we will find this to be an error. It crazy to charge people that kind of money for a years worth of cs updates.

There is a difference of €87-€130 between Digi001 and Digi002. Its the same software why would you chose the higher option?
