Basically, heavily loaded workflows effectively remove all turbo boost and in certain situations can drop below base clock. it's not thermals as thermals are outstanding when it happens (in the 40's!) so I believe it to be a power delivery issue. Hopefully it can be fixed with a simple EFI update, if it's not by design.
Thanks for the heads up. I like to wait a while before I jump so I can understand all the ins and outs. Not in a rush but plan to move at some point next year.

I considered waiting but I've been waiting for Apple to make a Thunderbolt enabled tower since 2012 so jumped early.

On the whole it has been brilliant.
I've got HDX working on it too.

I believe it's an excellent machine. We'll find all sorts of little things out over the next few months.

What were you using prior to this? I use an older 12 core cheese grater. Still works but....

How is 2019.10 and .12 compared to .6 on the mini?
I have the same OS and the mini...
Haven't run Protools in a while and wanted to record some stuff today and didn't want to have problems.
I tried to upgrade my ram from 8 to 32 to today but the torx bits from amazon were **** so I'll have to wait ;(
Thank you!

They bolt the ram in in Mini's now? No more spread the clips and out they come?

Pretty much.

Installing RAM modules on the new Mini essentially involves pulling apart the entire machine. Unfortunately, it’s nothing like the old Minis where it was a 2 min job.

2019.12 has been stable so far with brief testing.

No, ram is not hardwired into the Mini, but like Sardi said above it's not a simple process getting to it. I installed 32 gigs. Once you get to the ram it's simple....it's getting there that's a bit of a challenge. I followed this guide:
