How to connect other preamp to inserts on Mbox?

Hi,

In the last weeks I've spoken to three PT-dealers in my country and noone could give me an answer to this very simple question; is it possible to bypass the preamps on my Mbox? I have a great ISA 430 I would like to use with my PT LE. How can I connect it? I have tried to connect it with a stereo jack (from the Mbox insert) that splits to two mono jack with an XLR adapter (into my ISA). But I get no signal. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Just plug the out line of external preamp to the line in of your Mbox.Leave the gain rotary of the Mbox to zero and adjust the gain on the external preamp.That's the way...

I've tried that! I don't know much about db's and levels etc, but then I have to lower the preamps output a lot!Is that ok for the input-level into Protools? Am I recording at a good level then?
