Werid control delays and spikes using plug ins
In PT 7 I never these issues, but now in 8, when I use a plug in and use my mouse pointer to alter an EQ curve lets say, there is a delay from when I move it to when I see it adjust, Its hard to work like that.
Also, sometimes when I click on a knob or control it spikes way up or down before I can adjust it. These are TDM plug ins. Max OS 10.5.6 Any suggestions? While I am it, my virtual instruments are also very slow. When I hit spacebar to stop play back it takes about 3 seconds before it stops. |

Re: Werid control delays and spikes using plug ins
What's your System? Intel PCIe? PPC G5 PCIx?
With PT8 you have to "Release 1 Processor", to allow it to perform operations with "Non realtime Processes" related to RTAS Plugins, and instruments that are not completely Optimized. (There is much debate on the D.U.C about "Where" the problem Lies") So... on an 8 Core Mac Pro - Pro Tools operates best, set to 7 Processors in the Playback engine. Sadly, on the Dual G5's (And I have a G5 HD2 Accel as well), Preformance is best, set ti 1 Processor in the Playback engine. Giving you Half the RTAS headroom you had in 7.4 / Tiger

Re: Werid control delays and spikes using plug ins
A few other things - did you do an upgrade of the OS from Tiger to Leopard, or did you do a clean install?
What about Pro Tools - upgrade from 7.x or a clean install of PT8? Have you verified all installed plug-ins are the minimum version required or done any of the other steps or optimizations from the General Troubleshooting thread? |

Re: Werid control delays and spikes using plug ins
I would strongly recommend doing a clean install of Leopard and Pro Tools 8, as we have other reports of issues when one or the other is upgraded over a previous version.
