I installed my mbox two nights ago and everything was running perfectly. I even made a recording to test it all out. Then yesterday nothing seemed to work. Both the mic, line, and instrument lights are on and the SPDIF and mono lights are on. The only ligth that isn't on is the USB light. My device manager recognizes that the mbox is there but pro tools does not and the mbox doesn't seem to be functioning properly. please help!

Try a different USB port. Are there other devices ( mouse/keyboard) using USB ?
cheers,

Yeah I've tried every USB port, I've tried unplugging my ehternet adapter and scanner, I've tried every combination of plugging it in before I boot or after I boot etc. I'm going to call digidesign in about half an hour when they open. It seems everytime I plug it after I unplug/plug in something else a different combination of lights comes on. Very strange. Thanks for your help.

Well, hope you'll have that issue sorted out w/tech. support.
Shouldn't be a major headache if the PC meets Digi's qualification. What you might consider is, set up a separate hardware configuration profile for PT LE only...in which you'd disable all non-essential devices in the device manager. I did that, and my Mbox runs very solid. I'm guessing that your network adapter and scanner is a big no -no on the USB hub. There are quite a few threads in this forum re; USB requirements, current, powered hubs...etc. Also, SP1 is a must for your system to funtion properly. Happy tooling, cheers,

I had this happen once and had to re-install the Mbox USB driver from the ProTools disk. Worked like a charm.
Worth a try, anyway. B |
