Question PT9 and Eleven Rack: "Unable to locate hardware"

Hello All,

I've been working with Eleven Rack and ProTools 8.0.4 on Windows 7 64bit with not issues at all.

Today, I bought the crossgrade update to ProTools 9 and tried the updater. I followed every instruction to restart the computer and turn off the hardware (it said it would uninstall the audio drivers and everything else).

After the last reboot, I finally started PT9. It took a few minutes to load all my plugins and then it said it could not locate my hardware, to turn it on and press "ok", which I did with no success.

I already tried restarting again, but it seems like PT cannot see the Eleven Rack. Windows can see it in the device manager.

Any idea of how to solve this?

Very frustrated.

Thanks in advance,

Francisco

Is the firmware the most current?

I installed yesterday and it was a no go until I did that.

The firmware is 1.0.2 - however, I remember trying to update it when I first purchased it, and the firmware updater wasn't working well. Later I read somewhere that it needs to be updated with the Mac version of the updater, so I couldn't do it.

I'll try that again.

Right now, I tried completely uninstalling ProTools and then installing it with the full-installer. The same happens, PT cannot see the Eleven Rack. Windows can see it and I can even chose it as the default sound interface for Windows (which I'm not doing to keep it free, just in case).

I'll try the Firmware update now. I'll let you know.

I just did the Firmware update to 1.0.3 and this time it was successful, I can confirm it directly in the Eleven Rack's display.

However, PT9 still gives me the "hardware not found" window.

Frustrated as hell here.

Just when I sold my 002 and my 003. The only thing I have to use ProTools right now is my Eleven Rack.

I even invited friends to see the brand new PT9 here!

I just can't thing of something else to try. Except for formating and reinstalling Windows.

This is where Acronis True Image would come in handy

I just changed the input settings from "Digital" to "Guitar"... and now it works!

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy it works now... but I'm still angry at it! That's definitely wrong.

One thing about PT9 is that the interface drivers are now separate from the Protools 9 software. You must download the updated driver and install it separately from the Protools 9 application software. This includeds Avid interfaces like the (Digi002/002R/003/003R/003+/MBox2/Mbox2Mini/Mbox2Micro/Mbox2Pro/Mbox3Mini/Mbox3/Mbox3Pro/etc.). I'm guessing the updated driver is also needed for the Eleven Rack but I'm not sure. BTW: There are no drivers for the Digi001 or original Mbox.
